Post-Session: Sensex, Nifty end marginally lower as crude prices, US-Iran tensions weigh

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed marginally lower on Tuesday, as elevated crude oil prices and renewed tensions between the US and Iran weighed on investor sentiment.

The cautious market mood persisted amid concerns over geopolitical developments and their potential impact on global oil prices and domestic equities.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 76944.28 down by -12.99 points or by -0.02 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24055.8 down by -24.6 points or by -0.1 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 77231.87 and intraday low of 76656.12 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24143.15 and intraday low of 23952.55

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 266.45,+3.98%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1351.00,+3.21%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1154.00,+2.44%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1872.00,+2.30%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1307.35,+1.74%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12919.00,-4.16%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1033.40,-2.51%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5055.50,-2.48%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1970.00,-2.40%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3242.50,-2.36%), among others.

TECk index was at 15609.09 up by 221.67 points or by 1.44%. Mphasis Ltd. (Rs. 2505.75,+3.54%), Persistent Systems Ltd. (Rs. 5795.00,+3.27%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1351.00,+3.21%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1154.00,+2.44%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1872.00,+2.30%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4805 , shares advanced were 1851 while 2707 shares declined and 247 were unchanged.
